Agona Rural Bank to fight poverty among women

The Agona Rural Bank has disbursed a total of 2.8 million Ghana Cedis to 105 groups, made up of 2,100 women, to help expand their small-scale businesses.

The establishment of Agona Rural Bank Ltd was a response by the Government of Ghana to a request by the people of AGONA in the central region and its environs to create economic growth through efficient financial intermediation. Agona Rural Bank Ltd was incorporated under the Companies code Act 179 and commenced business of Banking under license and supervision of Bank of Ghana on October 7, 1983. Agona Rural Bank Ltd has since that time achieved steady growth in all areas of its activities.

Agona Kwanyako (C/R), Oct 14, GNA - The Agona Rural Bank recorded a net profit of GH¢58,123 in 2011 as against GH¢20,399 in 2010, representing 184. 9 percent increase. The bank’s total deposit increased from GH¢1,615,950 in 2010 to GH¢2,251,450 in 2011.
